Join CALI's Director of Technology as Elmer talks about the 18 month project that migrated www.cali.org from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10 (and probably Drupal 11) and its implications for building new API + AI driven apps and tools. The session will cover a look behind the scenes on the migration process and will introduce the new CALI API that will give member schools and developers unprecedented access to CALI content.
CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario) will share real-world lessons from its generative AI work in access to justice. The session focuses on CLEO’s AI Narrative Assistant, which uses outputs from its Guided Pathways, built with CALI’s A2J Author, to help turn self-represented litigants’ information into clearer legal narratives. CLEO will also discuss its AI chatbot, which draws on CLEO’s trusted public legal information to support users before, during, and after Guided Pathway sessions, plus how CLEO uses law students for human-in-the-loop evaluation.
There is a vast amount of data squirreled away in the databases that run and record CALI Lessons. We've begun to look at that data so that we can generate useful information for the legal community. We are using the extracted data along with generative A.I. in order to enhance grade reports in CALI's "Lesson Link", as well as a more general (anonymized) study on the strengths and weaknesses of student performance on CALI lessons.
The State of CALI, and where we are headed.
