ABA’s Formal Opinion 512 expertly outlined how its Model Rules of Professional Conduct applied to using AI to practice law. Potential violations involving AI go well beyond “hallucinations are bad”.  They can include issues with attorney-client privilege, fees, and supervision.  I’ll talk about what law librarians, law students, and everyone else need to know about the Rules and how we might discuss them in our classes and training sessions.
